I hate it. I’m a huge fan of smaller/perky boobs. Fake breasts are disgusting, period.

I think cosmetic surgery should be for those that have been in accidents and need reconstructive surgery, we shouldn’t change our body to look “better” God made us the way we are don’t put fake things into your body and don’t do it for confidence find that within yourself, you are beautiful the way you are, everyone is.

Does blood gushers dripping from a sharp stainless steel pointed blade sound delightful to you? Just ask the vampires that get to lick the knives after they’ve been used.

It is a reflection of how the media has influenced people to believe in the value of physical appearances. I don’t really see a point in doing it for cosmetic reasons, other than after a mastectomy

I feel like it’s their personal decision. If it’s something they want to do, than it should be their choice and no one else’s. I do admit to speaking negatively about some women if they go past a DD cup (well, actually it depends on the woman’s physique). I do hope however that women who under go this procedure don’t use it to simply please a lover or in trying to up their own self confidence.

The breasts, like ears, eyes, and skin are a person’s own, and they actually have the right to augment it anyway they so desire. Pierce the ears, (or nose or lip for that matter), wear colored contacts, tattoo yourself from head to toe, that is a right of personal expression in this country.
As long as the augmented breasts are kept from view from those who don’t want to see them, I think it is fine. You are right, it is a thriving industry, with scores of people undergoing a $5,000 average procedure every year. Much more expensive than piercing your ears, or getting a tatt, but again, right of personal expression.

an extreme form of body modification for sexual display behavior.
breasts take up a good portion of female sexual identity (how many girls have you heard say something to the effect, “i’m flatt–i look like a boy!”) or the acceptance of breast augmentation following mastectomies). if breast augmentation will help boost someone’s self perception then who am i to judge what makes another woman happy (notice, i’m only concerend with the woman’s happiness).
however, the danger is that elective surgery is unnecessary surgery. there is always risk involved with any surgery, no matter how routine or how many times the doctor had performed that surgery.
also, there is the psychological risk. large breasts get a lot of attention that a woman may not take into full consideration (i know a girl who got implants thinking it would help her be less self-conscious about her lack of mammaries…only to become MORE self-conscious because of the feeling everyone is ONLY looking at her breast implants)
Comment by Ms. Informed — January 22, 2009 @ 12:40 am
it sounds good in theory but I would be too afraid to do it because you can get diseases from the implants or they might not be installed correctly etc. I don’t look down on other women who get them - I see that as their choice. I support their right to choose implants. I would even support insurance covering the procedure since it makes the women feel better about themselves.

Jealous….I wish I had the money to get my boobs done. There’s nothing wrong with getting a little work done to boost your confidence.
But there is a fine line between a confidence boost and let’s say……Michael Jackson. Overdoing it is just unhealthy.

well, if i need a breast lift or augmentation so i can feel great about myself why not?
I don’t see the reason why any woman should be old when she’s older.
I don’t mean to become a plastic barbie doll, there are limits.
But some stuff fixed, why not? I love being gorgeous and i’m planning to stay gorgeous will i die.

I already have big natural breasts and they are such a hassle I don’t understand why anyone would go under the knife. The number of things that can go wrong is mind boggling and then end results can be really creepy to be truthful.
The U.S. is obsessed with breast size though. No matter what people say the message that you can’t look beautiful without big breasts, and that as a woman beauty should be your foremost concern especially if you want to be happy, is everywhere. No matter how false and unrealistic an ideal it is. I, like everyone else, knows how hard it is to buck current societal trends so that I can understand. There is something all of us has wished to change at one point because our imagined flaw is what is stopping us from being happy. Seeing the need to conform for what it really is isn’t easy and people can go their whole lives trying to reach an impossible ideal. So it makes sense, even if it is a pretty sad comment about how we as a culture view women, and ourselves. The shape of your body shouldn’t be such a driving factor in your feelings of self worth, but it would be a lie to say that it doesn’t affect how others treat you.

I have a couple of friends who have done this recently. While I wouldn’t mind surgically enhancing my mams, I don’t want to pay the money and have the pain that goes with the procedure. I am relatively comfortable in my own skin, and as much as I’ve thought about doing it over the years, I’ve decided that it’s not worth the money to get something that would cause me to get unwanted attention.
I think if it makes a gal feel better, then do it.

Doesn’t bother me at all. It’s their boobs. I did have a laugh at a woman who tried to convince me her (obviously augmented) E cups were real, as I actually had the real deal- and they looked nothing like hers!!! I do prefer natural breasts- I don’t like the look of fakes, but that is my personal opinion.

The largest group of women who have breast augmentation is women in their thirties who have had children and breast fed them. For all those women who are against this, just wait until you have children. I think you will give it a second look.
Comment by Capone — February 9, 2009 @ 2:55 pm
Actually, in response to the above post, I am in my 40s and have had children. I actually like how I’m not quite as well-endowed as I was when I was younger. It’s easer to find smaller shirts where the buttons won’t keep popping open at the chest and I can find tops that aren’t unbearably tight at the chest but fit perfectly everywhere else.

It’s there body but I would rather be with someone with an A sized cup then a D sized implant.
Take one look at the porno industry and there is a growing demand for realism.
Most porno from the 80’s,90’s always featured big breasted(fake) women.
I was on the fence about breast implants but after I learned there is a chance it could lower breast/nipple sensitivity it just seems wrong.
I might be able to understand older women getting a light “boob job” to feel better because of there age.
But healthy young women getting it done? When you care about someone you want to make them happy, pleasure them.
I am still not sure of the risk’s of loss of sensitivity but I know with a penile implant has a high number of reduced feeling and that is probably the reason it is rare.
To ask or suggest or advice a women to get breast implants is beyond selfish.
The only time a women should get breast implants is if she is A) doing it 110% for herself(even then a shrink should examine her) or B) her partner agrees to a penile implant.
Either way the real thing is always best.

I think it’s sad that they need to permanently alter their bodies and put their health at risk to feel good about themselves.
Comment by SockSpider.com — February 13, 2009 @ 6:03 pm
Frankly, it’s inappropriate & silly..Accept what nature gave you ; there should be no choice..

I think it’s dreadful anytime a man or woman has elective surgery, unless they have had an accident, birth defect, serious illness, etc. Why risk your health and even your life when you don’t have to? I think it’s so sad that men and women feel they have to have surgery to feel better about themselves.
